The CNN+ brand returns, but not as we knew it in Spain, as a news TV channel. Warner Media already signaled in 2021 that it had plans to bring to the streaming market a CNN Plusa platform for short news about sports, current affairs, entertainment, finance and investment news, etc. In 2022 they made the first tests, but shortly after they closed the service. Now, after a few months, it seems that the application will be available again and will be a streaming platform to use, with a price plan and monthly or annual subscription.
CNN Plus did not have the best of beginnings, but everything indicates that it will return to conquer the world of news on the web.
The goal of the new platform is for people who do not have cable or satellite TV to access an Internet news network. In addition to individuals who do not have cable TV, CNN Plus will also be a complementary service for those who watch the channel on television. It will become an application that will offer greater coverage of important breaking news. Something that will be useful for those who have the app on their mobile because they will be kept informed anywhere.
As for what the app will have, it is possible that it will again expose a catalog with eight or twelve live channels. A valuable section will be the news on demand, something that will be exclusive to CNN Plus. It will also have some interactive sections such as “Interview Club”. This will be a program where viewers will have the ability to send questions to news anchors and commentators, all through the app.
Launch, availability and pricing
As we mentioned, the first tests of CNN Plus were done in 2022, but they withdrew the platform shortly after releasing it. Now, its new release has no official date set, but it will most likely be available shortly in 2023.
On the other hand, the service will only be available in the United States, something normal, since most streaming apps take their first steps in the U.S. and then expand to the international market. Finally, the monthly cost for the service will be about 6 euros per month or 60 euros per year, so it is a fairly inexpensive amount that will be affordable for everyone.
