The elimination of the time limit on video calls that Google Meet had provided to its users since the confinement comes to an end. A measure that had also been adopted by other messaging and video calling apps but that, after the end of the rigorous confinement due to the pandemic, seems less necessary in Mountain View, headquarters of Alphabet, Google’s parent company.
Google Meet video calls with three or more participants will again be limited to just one hour in duration
Google Meet users have received an email stating the return to the limitation on the duration of group video calls, which from now on, when involving three or more participants, will be limited in duration to one hour. Only upon payment of a subscription fee will it be possible to extend this duration.
The change also comes as no surprise since it was in July 2021 when Google already warned on its support website that it would revert to the pre-pandemic time limitation. And the alternative is through subscriptions, such as Google One Premium, which includes WorkSpace Premium for 9.99 euros per month.
In addition to the elimination of that limit on the duration of multiple video calls adds features such as the ability to broadcast live on YouTube, background noise cancellation or call recording in Meet.
Workspace Premium in its individual format has been available in Spain for only a few days.
