Google has changed the design of search results on mobile devices to provide a better user experience and make it easier to find what you’re looking for. The new design is already being applied to some users and will reach everyone in the coming weeks.
The redesign is meant to be easier to read, with larger sections and labels to help users find what they’re looking for faster. A more minimalist composition was also chosen, which implements cards that contain the results, whatever the occasion more spaces on the screen. This allows users to focus more on what they are looking for.
The changes were led by Aileen Cheng, Google’s head of design. “We wanted the search results to shine so people could focus on the information, not what surrounds the results themselves,” he said. Because of this, the experience is more minimalistic and leaves no room to get lost in additional details.
With that in mind there is fewer shadows, fewer illustrations and symbolss. You want to guide the human eye directly to important information without distraction. All elements are inspired by the rounded effects of the Google logo to bring the visual experience to the search results. As can be seen in the picture leading this article, the round concept is present in all elements.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the text of the search results has also been changed, so that now a Bigger, bolder font. That way, it’s easier to read the text, and it’s also easier to find what you want with just a quick read.
