Deleting personal search results is now easier thanks to the “Results about you” tool, which simplifies the process of deleting this information, a feature that was announced by Google at its I/O conference and is now gradually becoming available to some users.
The data will continue on the website that publishes it but Google will indeed deindex it so it will no longer appear as a search result
Until now Google already had a way to remove personal information from Internet searches such as physical home addresses, email addresses, phone number and other data potentially damaging to the privacy of individuals, should they become known.
It was based on accessing Google’s support page and reporting, by adding the link, the web page where those privacy-compromising databy filling out a form and requesting the removal of Google searches for those results.
With the new tool, the request can be invoked from the search page itself using the icon showing three dots, which gives access to the “About this result” page, where the option “Remove result” appears, which will activate the form with the request for the deletion of the data from future searches.
On the other hand, a new tool also appears in the form of the “Results about you” button that is displayed when clicking on the user’s own profile image from the Google app, from where it is possible to track the data deindexing request processes undertaken.
It should be emphasized Google’s traditional reluctance to the right to be forgotten and that these procedures do not erase the information but remove it from searchestherefore, they will not appear as results in the Google search engine, but the information will continue to be available on the web page where it was published.
