Google Trends, the Google tool with which you can see the most searched terms on the internet at a certain point in time and which is very helpful when searching for keywords in SEO, is now 15 years old.

Google Trends was created as an internal project in 2004 and made available to the public two years later

It started working in the summer of 2006, although the first data on the tool was collected back in 2004. At the time, it was an in-house experiment by the company, though given its potential it was only accessible to the public two years later.

Initially we couldn’t get as much data as it is today, but the information we get from those years allows us to review some trends from the past and compare what people were looking for in 2006 to what they are looking for today. That’s what Google did to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Google Trends, salvage the information about the most wanted in 2006 and compare it to the most wanted today.
