When you have many windows or programs open, you don’t need to minimize them one by one to access the Windows desktop. There are several shortcuts that will allow you to have a view of the desktop with the touch of a button, which will help you save time and be more productive in your work, such as when you access the Windows task manager.
Here we will explain all the methods you have at your disposal to enter the Windows desktop quickly and accurately. There are several procedures that you can apply to achieve this, it is just a matter of choosing your favorite to put it into practice.
So you can go to the Windows desktop without wasting time
Although the means to access the desktop are not many, they are efficient and comfortable.
– Shortcut keys: This is one of the simplest procedures because everything you need is available on your keyboard, it will not even be necessary to use the mouse. All you have to do is press the Windows + D keys for the system to redirect you to your computer’s desktop. Also, if you press Windows + D again, you will return to the window you had open.
Another key combination you can use is Windows + M, this will only minimize the windows you have open to give you a full view of the desktop. However, when you want to open the windows again, you must enable them one by one using the mouse.
– Quick access: Placing a desktop icon on the taskbar will allow you to access it by simply pressing it. To achieve this, right-click on an empty space on your desktop, place the cursor on “New +” and select “Shortcut.”
Now, put the following command in the search bar to set the file location: %windir%/explorer.exe shell:::{3080F90D-D7AD-11D9-BD98-0000947B0257}. Press “Next,” type a name for the access (it should be “Windows Desktop”) and press “Finish.”
You will see the desktop icon, click on it and drag it to the taskbar so that it is anchored to it. That’s it, every time you want to go to the Windows desktop, press the icon to quickly enter.
– Desktop option from the taskbar: This will depend on the version of the operating system your computer is running. If you have Windows 10, you will see a vertical line exposed in the lower right corner of the taskbar, if you click on it, it will take you directly to the desktop.
In Windows 11 the feature is disabled, to activate it, right-click on the search bar and choose “Taskbar Settings”. Move the cursor down a bit, expand the “Taskbar Behaviors” section and check the “Select the corner of the taskbar to show the desktop” box.
– Automatic minimized: Finally, if you have many windows open and want to minimize them all to see the desktop, just click on the top bar and, while holding down the left mouse button, swipe left or right to make the window smaller (this trick applies to Windows 10 and 11).
