Connecting your MacBook to a television is vital because it will allow you to view the content on your computer on a larger screen. Whether to watch series or movies, project work, photos, videos, and even play a video game, doing so on a much larger panel can be beneficial.
If you don't know what to do to connect your MacBook easily and without wasting time, don't worry, since here you will find the different methods that exist, you can use cables or opt for wireless, both are equally efficient.
Methods to connect your MacBook to a TV
Any of the procedures you choose will do the job, just select the one that suits you best and apply it with complete confidence.
Use an HDMI cable
This alternative will depend on the ports that your MacBook has. If the computer has an HDMI port, it will be enough to purchase a cable of this type to connect it to the TV as if it were a console or any other device.
Now, the most common thing is that the computer only has USB-C ports, if this is your case, you will have to buy a USB-C to HDMI adapter cable to make the connection directly.
Finally, for older MacBook models that only have Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort, you have to use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter or cable to achieve your goal.
Chromecast
If you want to forget about cables completely, an efficient option is to get a Chromecast. Once you have the equipment, do the following:
– Connect the Chromecast and MacBook to the same Wi-Fi network
– Install Google Chrome on your computer and enter the browser
– Open the tab that you will broadcast to TV
– Click on the three dots located in the upper right corner and choose “Save and share” – “Transmit”. You will see both options in the drop-down menu.
– Choose the device you are going to cast to, if you want to project the entire screen, select “Cast Screen”.
AirPlay
This method will work if you have an Apple TV or a television compatible with AirPlay, it will allow you to project the screen wirelessly. These are the steps:
– Connect your MacBook and TV to the same Wi-Fi network
– Go to the “Control Center” of the computer and click on “Screen Mirroring”
– A menu will open, choose your Apple TV or smart TV from the list displayed
– The system may ask you to enter the four-digit code that will be displayed on the TV
