In order to force programs to close when they crash or freeze completely, Windows 11 has added the ability to end software execution directly from the taskbar. Thanks to this, you will create a simple and effective shortcut, and you will not have to search for the Task Manager manually.
However, the “End Task” feature using the Windows 11 taskbar is not enabled by default. Therefore, here we will explain how you can configure this feature so that you can quickly close the programs you want.
Steps to enable “End Task” on the Windows 11 taskbar
Within the basic Windows configuration you will find the option to enable task completion from the operating system bar, the procedure is as follows:
– Go to “Settings” in Windows 11, you can press the Windows + I keys or tap the gear-shaped icon located on the taskbar.
– Once inside the settings, click on “System” in the sidebar located on the left side of the screen
– In the “System” menu, select the “For developers” section, this is a section intended for the Windows developer community.
– There you will see the “End Task” function, just activate the switch to enable closing programs from the taskbar by right-clicking.
– That’s all you need to do, now whenever you want to close a program completely to make sure it stops running, right click on the software icon that appears on the taskbar and choose “End Task”.
It’s worth noting that even though you’ve enabled the new task-ending feature, the traditional method will still be enabled. That is, you can still use the Control + Alt + Del command to select Task Manager to close any software that is crashing.
