How to merge multiple PDF documents into a single file

It may have happened to you that you want to combine several PDF files into one, to send it more easily or to archive it taking up less space and you don’t know how. It is not a feature that all PDF editors include, unfortunately.

If you don’t want to end up printing them and scanning them into a new PDF file – I confess I’ve done that before – you can save a lot of time by using a feature offered by Adobe – the company that created PDF files – for free.

You probably don’t know it because they don’t advertise it much, but it is tremendously useful. It is an online tool that you can access from any device connected to the Internet and that will allow you to combine several PDF files into one in a matter of minutes. In this article we explain how.

How to combine multiple PDFs into one

To access Adobe’s free online tool and merge PDF files easily, you have to do the following:

-Visit the URL to open the Adobe online tool.

-Now press the “Select file” button to choose the PDF files from your computer, or directly drag and drop them into the “Merge PDF” area.

You can upload them all at once or add files once you have already uploaded some. You can also delete some that you have uploaded if you end up not wanting to attach them to the new file you will create.

-Once you have them all uploaded, click on the “Merge” button located in the upper right corner of the screen.

-In order to merge the files, you will have to register in the tool. You can do this with your Google account, your Facebook account or your Apple account. If you prefer, you can also create your own account using your own username and password for Adobe.

-Once registered, a new tab will open in your browser, where you can edit the resulting PDF file online, if necessary. You can reorganize the pages as you wish, change their position, divide the file into several, convert it into other formats such as JPEG or Word…

-When you are ready, you can download the file to your computer by pressing the “Download” button at the top of the screen.

Keep in mind that, as Adobe advises, your files will be securely managed on Adobe servers to do the merging, but they will not be saved. These will be deleted once you have finished merging the files unless you register and want to proactively save them.
