Maybe you didn’t know it, but you can transfer files from your phone to a USB memory – or vice versa – without using the computer as an intermediary to move the data.
This will be very useful if you do not have a pendrive with a USB-C port, which allows you to connect it directly to your mobile phone. In addition, with this method you can also make backup copies, transfer videos, photos, movies, series, etc.
In this article you will learn how to do it with an Android mobile, since it is not possible at the moment to do it with an iPhone.
Send data from the mobile phone to the pendrive without using the PC
To carry out this procedure, you will only need two things: the USB memory and a USB-C to USB 2.0 or 3.0 OTG cable. It is worth mentioning that the OTG (On-The-Go) cable is an extension of USB 2.0 and 3.0 that makes it possible to connect external devices to the mobile, such as pen drives, mice, game controllers, etc.
Some of the best OTG cable brands you can buy are: UGREEN, AreMe, JXMOX, Syntech, Amazon Basics, and JSAUX. Remember that it must have a USB-C output and USB 2.0 or 3.0 input as shown in the image:
Now, follow these steps:
– Connect the USB memory to the OTG cable. Then, attach the cable to the USB-C port on your phone.
– A floating window will appear on your smartphone screen with the following message: “USB storage added.” Select the “Open” option to start the file transfer.
– Now you will be redirected to the file explorer of your Android phone, there look for the folders or content that you want to transfer to the pendrive and press the “Move” option (located in the lower menu of the screen).
– In the new section, open the USB memory folder to which you want to transfer the information and choose “Move here”.
– Finally, the file transfer will begin and the time to complete the task will depend on the weight of the data you are moving.
That’s all you have to do to send the mobile information to the pendrive. Note that, if you want to move files from the USB memory to the smartphone, you can follow the same steps.
