How to tune in to DTT channels on your television

Wherever you live, you have at your disposal at least 25 Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) channels on your television, if you count the traditional national stations, plus the regional and local channels.

What happens is that sometimes these channels can change frequency – whether due to the transition to DTT in High Definition HD or for any other reason – and, therefore, you stop watching them. New channels are also appearing, which if you don’t tune in again you won’t be able to enjoy them.

That is why it is advisable to retune the DTT channels from time to time – or if your smart TV is new, you will have to do it for the first time – to enjoy all the channels that currently exist in your area of residence.

Add DTT channels from your remote control

Although some television models carry out the process of tuning new channels automatically, there are not many models available on the market that incorporate this function. This means you may have to do it manually.

This is a simple operation that you can carry out with your remote control, as you will find below. Basically, you must use the “Menu” button on the remote (it can also be called “Home”) and look for the “Settings” or “Search Channels” option. The device will guide you through the different steps until it identifies all the signals and you can order the channels as you wish.

There may be some differences when retuning. Everything will depend on the television model you use, as well as whether you use a payment platform to access DTT. With that in mind, here’s what you need to do.

Televisions with Android TV operating system

If you use a television with Android TV operating system, one of the most popular on the market, you have to do the following:

-Press the “Home” button on the remote control.

-On the home screen, go to the “Settings” section of Android TV, which is identified by a gear icon.

-Access “Channel Settings”. There go to “Digital Settings”.

-Now press the “Digital Tuning” section. Under “Frequency Range,” select “Full.”

-Finally, click on “Digital automatic tuning” to start channel tuning.

LG TVs with webOS

If your television is LG brand and uses the webOS operating system, you have to follow the following steps to retune:

-Press the “Settings” button on your remote control.

-On the screen that appears, look for the “Channels” section in the sidebar.

-Access and press the “Auto tuning” option.

-Select the DTT source and click on “Next”. You can check “Digital only search” so that only DTT channels are searched.

Samsung TVs with Tizen

If your television is Samsung brand and uses the Tizen operating system, you must follow these steps:

-Press the “Home” button on the remote control. This will take you to the Smart Hub home page.

-Click on the “Settings” menu on the left of the screen and choose “Broadcast”.

-Now, select “Automatic synchronization” and in antenna type put “Aerial”.

-In channel type, indicate “Digital and Analog”. Hit “Search” to start channel retuning.

If you use a pay television platform

If you want to watch and retune DTT channels from a pay television platform, such as Vodafone TV, Movistar+ or Orange TV, you should know that these services do not allow manual retuning.

In this case, regardless of the brand of your television, the retuning will be done automatically. It is also not possible to change the order of the channels, if that is something you wanted to do.
