They fit anywhere. They help you not lose things and find them wherever you leave them. It is about the Apple AirTagssmall GPS trackers that work with your iPhone and you can place them in a wallet, your house keys, your work backpack and, it can be a very valid alternative as a GPS tracker for your pet.
What is an Apple AirTag
Apple AirTags are small devices that fall into the category of wearables and consist of small GPS receivers that will work perfectly with your iPhone and its ‘Search’ function.
Now, they are not simple GPS trackers with Bluetooth technology; AirTags work with more precise technology that can be used with different devices at the same time. This technology is not new and is known as Ultra Wide Band (UWB).
And for a few years it has wanted to be a replacement for the Bluetooth connection, since it is more precise for these GPS tracking functions, having a margin of error of a few centimeters. What’s more, these Apple receivers can be used with both an iPhone and an iPad.

How to set up the Apple AirTag with your iPhone or iPad
The first thing you should keep in mind is that the device with which you pair your new AirTag must have at least iOS 14 installed for it to work. That said, the next thing will be to remove the protective plastic from the battery so that it can work and to know that you have done it correctly, the AirTag will play a sound.
Now is the time to have both the data connection (WiFi or 5G), Bluetooth activated on the iPhone or iPad, and have the device’s ‘Search’ application activated. Once all this is done, bring the AirTag closer to the device and a screen will appear on your iPhone indicating that an AirTag has been recognized – a simulation will appear on the screen as when you bring AirPods closer. You just have to click “Connect” and follow the steps that appear on the screen.
The next thing you will have to do is assign the AirTag to an object: keys, wallet, backpack, bicycle, etc. Once the configuration is complete, “Item configured” will appear on the screen. But, if you are not satisfied that the AirTag has been configured correctly, you can enter the “Search” application and in the Devices section verify that the item that you have previously configured appears. As a note, remember that the AirTags you use will always be associated with your Apple ID.
How to use an Apple AirTag to find objects
It’s time to use the AirTag for the first time. To do this, enter the “Search” application and go to the “Articles” section. Now search the map for your AirTag and you will be shown the exact place and time of its last known location or recorded by the system.
If you are told that the object is close to you, you can press the “Play sound” button so that the AirTag starts ringing and you can guide yourself through it until you find the lost object. If the object you are looking for is a little further away, you will be shown the “How to get there” option, which when pressed will open Apple Maps that will guide you to the last location recorded by the object.
Once you are close, you can hit the “Play sound” option again to guide you through it to its exact location. Likewise, it is also possible to search for the object without playing any sound; You just have to select the “Search” option on the screen and you will see that different indications appear on the iPhone – or iPad – screen, such as the meters it is located as well as the direction you should take.
Likewise, the maximum range in which you can find the AirTag near you is 100 meters. If the object goes beyond that distance range, you must set “Lost Mode.”
What is “Lost Mode” on an AirTag?
This mode is what you should activate – it is not activated – if your iPhone is not able to locate your AirTag and its associated object. To activate it, you only have to click on the “Objects” button and click on the AirTag and object that you have lost. Next, the different configuration options will appear and among them will be Lost Mode.
This will take you to a new screen in which you will be informed that by activating this mode the link with a new iPhone or iPad will be blocked – no one else can use it. You can write a personalized message for that person who finds the AirTag and scans it. As well as being able to write your phone number so they can give you the lost item or your email.
On the other hand, once the object is recovered, remember that you must deactivate Lost Mode. To do this, go back to the “Search” application and choose the “Objects” option. Click on the recovered item and on the options screen, within “Lost Mode”, deactivate the option.
How to delete information from an AirTag to use it for another object or for someone else to use it
Finally, AirTags are not condemned to always be working with the same objects: these can be different or, instead, you may want to give it to someone else to use during a trip. Well, to do this, do the following:
-Open the “Search” app on your iPhone or iPad and go to the “Objects” section
-Now click on the AirTag for which you want to delete the information or change the associated object
-At that moment the options that you can carry out with that specific AirTag will open to you. And if you scroll down to the last two options you will see that you have the option to “Rename object” and “Delete object.” Click on the one that suits you best
