Human traits that AI does not have

Can AI replace humans? The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) exceeds the expectations of many. Initially conceived as an aid to man, AI demonstrates its ability to efficiently pass various tests, posing the threat of being more efficient than its own creator. This generates the risk that in the near future it could supplant humans in many professions, complicating the employment situation worldwide, something that is already happening in some areas. However, despite its efficiency, there are human traits that AI does not possess, which marks a big difference between the two. Although AI can achieve high levels of performance, it lacks human emotional understanding, intuition and empathy, qualities that remain essential in most work activities.

Human traits

Human traits that Artificial Intelligence still can’t overcome.

There are certain human traits that Artificial Intelligence cannot overcome at the moment. One such trait is spontaneity. The impulse with which we humans use creativity, be it with an innovative idea, writing a poem or making a decision.

In this way, humans habitually generate new knowledge, which artificial intelligence cannot do. AI can only adapt to previous knowledge generated by the human mind. AI actions are only possible if there is a mind that programs or designs it. It cannot, moreover, improvise a speech or make a decision out of thin air, as we do.

Another major difference is ethics; machines lack ethics. AI follows pre-established parameters and rules. In contrast, humans have regulations, laws, possibly a religion, among other things, that guide us on what we can and cannot do.

In simple terms, discernment between right and wrong is the basis of ethics. However, in the practice of programming machines with AI, ethics can be a crucial factor, since it is not always ethical people who carry out this task. This gives rise to a number of issues that need to be taken into account.

Man vs. robot

Leadership and psychological problems are not characteristics of Artificial Intelligence.

Other distinctive features are remorse and the absence of psychological problems. We start from the assumption that AI has no experiences, no history, and no experiences. Therefore, they have no psychological problems or remorse in their actions. They do not suffer losses, do not feel pain, do not have their own opinions and do not feel attachment to anything.

Likewise, humans are born leaders, and they differ in their leadership abilities. The capabilities of humans in leading work teams, with inventiveness to overcome problems, artificial intelligence cannot reach them, for the moment.

Creativity is also innate in humans and AI is not efficient in this regard. Original proposals, creative ideas and innovation are human faculties. Artificial intelligence can only help with some innovative ideas and creations, but only from a clear idea of what the human intends.

The rapid advancement of AI poses significant challenges and opportunities for the future. Recognizing the fundamental differences between artificial and human intelligence is key to harnessing its potential for the benefit of society and preventing it from replacing essential aspects of the human experience in the world of work and life in general.
