Google Maps has installed in its latest update a tool that details the price of tolls on a route and other aspects of a trip, such as the location of traffic lights and stop signs. This new update also includes some specific improvements for its iOS version, such as the ability to get Google Maps directions directly from an Apple Watch.

Google Maps will launch this month the tool for 2000 tolls in the United States, India, Japan and Indonesia

This tool will be available later this month for both Android and iOS users. At the moment, only will include information on about 2,000 tolls located in the United States, India, Japan and Indonesia. The company expects to add new countries to the list soon.

According to the company, they have chosen to include toll prices when marking an itinerary so that users have at their fingertips all the necessary information before opting for one route or another. When marking a route, Google Maps will include the location of tolls and the price of tolls. This information will be provided by the authorities in the region.

At the same time, Google Maps will provide the total cost of the journey in tollsalthough this amount will be approximate. To calculate this figure, the app will take into account the different toll prices according to the payment method, the day of the week and the cost of the toll at different times of the day. The company explains that users will be able to choose whether or not to see this information when searching for a route.

In recent months Google Maps has been adding different tools to provide more information to travelers. Last fall it introduced a function to tell the user what the ecological footprint of their journey is and to suggest the most sustainable route to complete a journey. Also last year it activated a functionality that shows the price of gasoline at all nearby gas stations.
