Streaming platform Netflix is working on the development of the live streaming of certain content. This livestreaming would apparently be reserved for special events and comedy shows.
Livestreaming would assimilate streaming platforms with the live content of conventional television channels
The livestreaming of certain content would allow, for example, live participation in voting related to performances and shows. However, live comedy is one of the contents that seems to have more pull for this format.
In fact this year Netflix hosted its first live comedy festival, “Netflix is a Joke Fest,” which was held in Los Angeles over several days and featured more than 130 popular comedians.
The streaming platform plans to broadcast some of the performances from that event during the last days of May and during the month of June. It could be the moment when the possibility of watching them “live” would be added, that is, at the same time they are being “broadcasted” through Netflix, in the manner of the contents that are broadcast in the traditional way by conventional television channels.
These live broadcasting live broadcasting live broadcasting formats have already found their niche on the Disney+ platform, which “broadcast” live the last Hollywood Academy Awards ceremony, in addition to having this format planned for the galas of the “Dancing with the Stars” program that will be broadcast live at the end of this year 2022.
It should be recalled that in the last quarterly rendering of accounts Netflix data yielded a loss of more than 200,000 subscribers while, for its part, Disney plus managed to add almost 8 million new subscribers, also during the first quarter of the current year 2022, in yet another chapter of the so-called Streaming Wars that pit the multiple online movie and series platforms against each other in their battle for the market.
