Google Podcasts is a tool geared towards listen and discover new podcasts. This tool offers a personalized experience for users, as well as a simple and intuitive interface for Android users. Here, content creators can add their shows for users to find and discover new content.
As of September 2021, podcasts must meet these requirements to appear in the recommendations section.
Google Podcasts allows users to subscribe to multiple podcasts and receive alerts whenever new episodes are released. Once a user has subscribed to multiple shows, Google Podcasts uses this information to display a series of suggestions with which to discover new content.
Now, from Google, they have published a series of requirements that programs will have to meet from september 2021 to be chosen among these programs that are shown to users. In this sense, all those podcasts that do not meet the requirements and do not show the requested information may be registered in the tool, but will not appear in the recommendations.
These are the requirements that podcasts must meet:
-Images: One of the first requirements they must meet is to have an optimized image or thumbnail, which Google can crawl (i.e. not blocked to Google bots).
-Mailing Address: Podcasts must have a valid and verifiable email address.
-Description: Programs should have a detailed, “user-friendly” description that shows users what they will find in the program.
-Author’s name: The requested information, which is displayed on the Google Podcasts recommendations page, must include the name of the author of the podcast, which does not have to be the name of the show’s creator.
-Link: Podcasts should contain a link to the podcast creator’s main website, as it will allow users to discover who is behind the show.
