During the Search On event, in addition to presenting up to 7 new features in the way searches are performed, Google also made releases that improve the Google Maps experience, with more visual and immersive models, and using predictive models to show the user what they are looking for in the most appropriate way.
Google made the launches during its Search On event
The releases Google has made regarding the Google Maps experience are as follows:
-Neighborhoodwith this tool, the user will be able to select a neighborhood and see what is most popular in it thanks to the photos and information shared by the Google Maps community.
According to Google, it receives more than 20 million contributions every day for its maps (reviews, photos, videos…) and now it will use all this information to, using Artificial Intelligence, provide each user with more relevant information on neighborhoods in a very visual way. This experience will be launched in the coming months for both the Google Maps app on Android and iOS, worldwide.
-Aerial views: Google will now allow access to 250 photorealistic aerial views, like what you might see from the Tokyo Tower or the Acropolis in Athens. The view, much more immersive, will provide a better user experience. This new feature is available now.
-Inverted view: This functionality combines aerial views with information on weather, traffic, population density at a given hour… to learn more about a certain city or a corner of it. It will arrive in the coming months in cities such as Los Angeles, London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. Google has not determined when it will show this information about other cities.
-Live View searches. All you will have to do is pick up your cell phone to search for places like stores, ATMs, restaurants… while using Live View in cities like London, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo in the coming months.
-Shopping. Google will also add facilities for shopping directly on Google Maps for products found by searching. For example, 3D images of shoes in the United States will be added in the coming months to facilitate shopping.
-3D images. Since it is easier for users to decide to buy if they see a three-dimensional image of the product, Google will allow 360-degree images to be created using Artificial Intelligence from several photographs of the product. This will be available in the United States in early 2023.
