The Batman is the highlight of the movie releases for March.
We resume our section of movie premieres now that it seems that the pandemic is passing into history and that everything is beginning to return to the normality that we all love, and not to that ‘new normality’ that no one is convinced of. Of course, this would not be possible if the theaters had not reopened their doors, it seems, definitively and without any more restrictions or signs of suffering them again.
As you read, we leave everything in conditional because, again it seems, the pandemic is being left behind. Only the obligation to wear the muzzle indoors remains… as long as you do not catch a good muzzle of popcorn and eat it at a snail’s pace, which more than one does (there is no muzzle with muzzle!). All in all, the important thing here is to get the film exhibition flowing again..
… And it has been noticeable almost since the beginning of the year, but especially from February onwards, with releases still in the pipeline as powerful as Unchartedwhich is proving to be one of the most revitalizing movie releases of the last two years, as well as a must-mention in the reboot of this section… which we resume with another reboot that also promises to make a dent in the lineup The Batman.
That said, this section of movie premieres is not going to be exactly like our VOD New Releasesin which every Saturday we gather exhaustively everything that is released weekly on the main video on demand platforms. At Movie premieres we will limit ourselves to write down the most awaited movie releases of the month in Spain, and as far as March 2022 is concerned, the list starts like this..
Premiere on March 4.
It has been a long time coming and has generated rivers of ink for more than two years, but it has finally arrived in theaters The Batmana new reboot for the popular DC Comics superhero directed by Matt Reeves (Monstrous, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, War of the Planet of the Apes) and starring Robert Pattinson (Twilight, Tenet, The lighthouse) that is leaving no one indifferent. In fact, there is already talk of a trilogy. Will it come The Batman at the level of what Chrisopher Nolan has done? We’ll have to see.
Premiere on March 4.
Let it not be said that there are only superhero movies on the billboard: there are also hero movies, as is the case of the latest work of Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, A heroa prison drama with touches of intrigue in which… We will not go into spoilers, the film has not stopped receiving nominations and awards since it was presented last year. Now you can enjoy it in theaters and if you are not in the mood, but you are interested, hold on a little bit because soon it will be available on Amazon Prime Video.
In the cinema there is not only room for independent European and Asian, sometimes even African and even American productions, but also American ones such as Language Lessonsdirected by Natalie Morales, creator of  Room 104 (you have the full series on HBO Max), who for her big screen debut directs herself in a dramedy with a lot of spanglish.
Premiere on March 11.
From the creator of Spanish abominations of the caliber of Anacleto: Secret Agent o Superlópez hits theaters this March Malnazidosa zombie movie set in the midst of the Spanish Civil War, which is an early word. As soon as it should have arrived, after being presented at the Sitges Film Festival at the end of 2021 and with an initial release date at the end of 2021… But, things of the pandemic, it is now when it is due. As for the tone and the cast… Trailer inside!
Premiere on March 11.
Another film that arrives a long time after its preview for the reason you already know is Cyranoa biopic of the famous Cyrano de Bergerac halfway between drama and the obligatory romance, but in the key of a musical. Now, if there is an outstanding element in this new adaptation of the life and work of the French novelist and playwright is that on this occasion who gives life to him is none other than Peter Dinklage, the unforgettable Tyrion Lannister of Game of Thrones.
Premiere on March 11.
Do you remember the brainless people of Jackass? Well, they are still there, in their fifties, but without ceasing to risk their physical and mental integrity, or at least their shame… for the last time, it seems; or that is what the title of their latest production means, Jackass Foreverwhich will be released in theaters next week.
Premiere on March 11.
Another Spaniard, or rather Catalan, or better yet… It’s a big deal; but it is worth noting that Escape Room: the movie runs almost entirely in Catalan, at least in its original version. Otherwise, this is a thriller choral cast comic composed of Ivan Massagué (The Hole), Joel Joan (Plats bruts), Paula Vives (The heart of the city) and Mónica Pérez (La que se avecina) and a story set in… well, you can imagine, can’t you? Based on the play.
Premiere on March 18.
And yet another one (yet another Spanish film, it is understood), this one by the creator of the successful Movistar+ series Hierropepe Coira: Emperor Codean intriguing feature film based on real events starring one of the most intense and fit actors – an ideal combination for this type of film – on the Spanish scene, Luis Tosar (Cell 211, Mondays in the sun, Midas Favorites). And like the previous one, it is released when it is due.
Premiere on March 18.
Because it’s good to have a little bit of everything, The bad guys tells the story of five famous criminals who will try to carry out their most complicated enterprise to date: to behave themselves. An animated film from DreamWorks Animation, distributed by Universal Pictures, which in the tone of comedy inherited from the illustrated books by Aaron Blabey on which it is based, will try to attract all audiences to the cinema.
Premiere on March 18.
More comedy, more Spanish cinema and more familiar faces in these parts is what is proposed The world is yourssequel to The World Is Yours (2018) in which the ‘compadres’ played by Alberto López and Alfonso Sánchez (8 apellidos vascos, Down there) will return to their careers to try to hit the big time and get rich once and for all.
Premiere on March 18.
We change the subject with one of the European releases that has had the best reception in the last year, including nominations and awards at shows such as the BAFTA Awards, the César Awards, the European Film Awards or the Venice Film Festival The event is a French drama set in the 60s of the last century around the always controversial – but then, much more so – issue of abortion.
Premiere on March 25.
Camera Café, the movie. Need I say more? Directed by the chanante Ernesto Sevilla, the once successful sitcom television reunites almost all of its original cast around the office coffee machine, this time in feature film format and direct to the big screen. Well, it’s not all like that: the mini-plots in front of the coffee machine have been left behind in favor of a more dynamic mise-en-scene.
Premiere on March 25.
To finish the March movie premiere review, Bellea new anime film by Mamoru Hosoda (Mirai, my little sister, The wolf children, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) with which the Japanese director follows in the wake of previous productions, but with a little more daring and visual ambition, as the specialized critics are picking up… or as he did, since it is considered one of the best animated films of 2021, even though it is released this month in Spanish cinemas.
