The electric flight suit from BMW

From Icarus to Leonardo, from the Wright brothers to today. Flying like birds is part of our imagination. With this in mind, the German manufacturer BMW made a suit. He developed the first electric suit that reached 300 km / h. It is more than twice as fast as conventional devices.

One of the designers decided to try it out. Peter Salzmann jumped from the cliff from a height of more than 3,000 meters. He did this near the summit of the Hohe Tauern in the Alps. During this experiment he was assisted by two other ruthless experimenters.

Triaco did this to give him a better idea of how big his is Drive unit.

“At first we wanted to put it in the back. But then we draw it and evaluate it with aerodynamic experts. We have decided to move the flight unit forward, ”explained Salzmann.

The ingenuity later partnered with BMW, which offered him the tools needed to make this suit. One of them was the propulsion system. The group was working on a smaller system, more than a meter wide, fitted with two 13-centimeter propellers. After these two elements were put together, they created a device that looked like “a futuristic submarine,” Salzmann recalled.

The chest mount is powered by a 50-volt lithium battery that weighs almost 12 kilograms. It is also equipped with an energy storage device. The secret element of the electric flight suit is its accelerator. It is attached to the left sleeve and allows the user to reach a speed of almost 300 km / h.

Perhaps the day is not far off when one of them will fly over a Formula 1 at maximum speed without getting lost.
