«An inclusion was discovered with needles from an ancient pine, whose age is estimated at about 50 million years. This rare specimen of amber was found at the stage of manual stone assortment during the first working day of the new year, January 9. “It is the first discovery of this type in the last five years,” they report.

Rarity
The inclusion itself represents a fragment of flora that has preserved its shape and color in the ancient tar. It is a flake of five greenish pine needles. Presumably, between two glacial periods, when warming replaced cold, the instability of the climate caused strong winds that contributed to the formation of this rare stone.
«We tend to find amber more frequently with inclusions of insects, arachnids, crustaceans and other representatives of fauna. Flora rarely become prisoners of amber due to its fragility and location. We sometimes find inclusions of fern leaves, moss, fragments of cupressaceae and flower buds. It is the flora of the lower floor of the forest, while the pine needle is from the upper floor. “Flakes with pine needles are rarely found,” they point out.
Stones with inclusions constitute 5% of the entire volume extracted from the site. They select them at the manual assortment stage and subdivide them into two categories. Those of the first go to auctions for unique stones, while those of the second are used to make jewelry and souvenirs.
