The team of researchers unearthed a pendant with the effigy of the prophet Solomon in the ancient city of Adrianople in Paphlagonia. Where is it located? It is located in Karabuk, in the north of Türkiye. On the artifact, the strokes display a recognizable scene that caught the eye. There, the prophet appears riding a horse and brandishing a spear to defeat evil. It was deduced that the image was made in reference to the symbolic victory over darkness.

Unprecedented

This is considered an important discovery. According to calculations and analyzes carried out, its age dates back to about 1,600 years ago. Under what circumstances was it discovered? It happened during excavations that are being carried out in the region. It is believed that the pendant was used as an amulet. And its use occurred in a historical context that reflects the importance of the figure in the main religions of the world, reports Turkiye Today.

«This is an unprecedented find in Anatolian archaeology. “We had never found a similar example until now.” This was stressed by the head of the excavation team, Ersin Celikbas. He works with the Department of Archeology at Karabuk University.

Great value

The expert pointed out some references of the character portrayed. Solomon’s prominence in Judaism, Christianity and Islam makes this find exceptionally valuable.

The pendant has inscriptions on both sides, which adds more mystery to the find. On the obverse of the object there is a phrase carved: “Our Lord defeated evil.” Meanwhile, on the reverse, the names of four archangels appear: Azrael, Jibril, Mikail and Israfil. This unique feature had never been found in Anatolian archaeology, making the discovery even more surprising.
