It was a futuristic car in its day. No wonder they used it in a futuristic movie: Back to the Future. It’s about the famous DeLorean. Now the maker of this film-famous DeLorean model car has announced the return of the legendary car. The return of the DeLorean model is near.

Speculation
It is unclear whether this is a show car that will be built in honor of the 40th anniversary of the model. Maybe a small production can be started. DeLorean Motor Company (DMC) and Italdesign Design Studio posted something about it on Facebook. It’s a collage with a photo of the first DMC-12 and one of the updated versions of the vehicle.
In the picture you can only see the contours of the car with gullwing doors like the predecessor. The front shows the DMC emblem. It is unclear whether the modernized model will keep the brushed stainless steel body. That was an essential feature of the legendary car. Last year, DMC promised to begin small-scale production of the DMC-12 in 2021.

Changes in the car
According to rumors, the coupe had to get a modified chassis with suspension from a German company. The engine should meet the requirements of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) technical regulations.
The main candidate was a 3.5-liter V6 with 300-400 horsepower, likely from Toyota. There was also talk of an electric motor. But these assumptions were just words.
The return of the DeLorean model is a fact. Now we just have to wait for the company to officially announce more details about the project.
