This is what Netflix video games will be like

In addition to movies, series and documentaries on Netflix are going to add video games soon. At no additional cost and as if it were another television channel.

In recent years there has been a proliferation of streaming video game platforms such as Arcade, Luna, Stadia,..

Years ago, online games integrated into social networks reached a great popularity and now it seems to be the turn of video game platforms to which users can join by monthly subscription.

Examples abound, with services like Amazon Luna, Apple Arcade, Google Stadia, Microsoft Xbox GamePass Ultimate, Nvidia Geforce Now, Sony PlayStation Now… but a few weeks ago a new online accessible game subscription service was announced that, in this case, is already integrated into a service that users subscribe to: Netflix.

Without the need to pay an additional amount, Netflix has already begun offering the first video games on its platform in Polandbased on one of its most successful series: “Strangers Things”.

This is in particular “Stranger Things: 1984” and “Stranger Things 3” and Netflix itself warns that this is a very early stage of its project, in which it makes clear that the titles that in the future will be added to the platform will not have ads or micropayments nor will there be any additional costs beyond the monthly subscription itself, similar features to the video games on the Apple Arcade platform.

In order to access the video games, it will be necessary to log in to a new category included in the Netflix navigation menusimilar to the categories of movie genres, series or trends, where the available games will appear.

At the moment Netflix has not communicated if the video games are downloaded from the Netflix app itself or are shortcuts to the app store to download the titles for free, something that could work on Android but not so on iOS due to restrictions imposed by Apple App Store.
