2021 was a complicated year for the series because of the COVID-19 pandemic that paralyzed recording and production of many of them. Luckily, 2022 is already here and this year comes packed with series premieres, as well as the return of great stories to major streaming platforms such as HBO.
In 2022 HBO will premiere new seasons of some highly anticipated series, but it will also bring new stories, as eagerly awaited as the “Game of Thrones” spinoff.
-“Euphoria”: After a two-year wait, “Euphoria” returned to HBO on January 10 with a much-anticipated second season. The series, which has become a generational narrative, we will see how the relationship between Rue and Jules progresses after each has faced their demons separately.
-“The Golden Age: On January 25 comes this “new Dowtown Abbey.” The story places us in the middle of New York high society at the end of the 19th century. Once again, we will witness a family drama, a business struggle to succeed in a world that faces an abyss and must modernize or disappear.
-“The Peacemaker: On January 13 arrives this “spinoff” of “The Suicide Squad”. With John Cena as the main character, it will extend the story of this eccentric character. The series will have eight chapters and a choral structure, with touches of political criticism.
-“Garcia!”: Adaptation of the graphic novel by Santiago García and Luis Bustos. The series places us in a dystopian Spain on the verge of political chaos, where a young investigative journalist stumbles upon a conspiracy that has been brewing in the shadows for years.
-“The House of the Dragon: Sometime in 2022, this highly anticipated “Game of Thrones” spinoff will arrive. Adapting George R.R. Martin’s novel that chronicles the arrival of the first Targaryen to Westeros on the backs of their dragons, this is a fantasy series starring Matt Smith. Its main problem is its high expectations, which could be its worst enemy.
-“Poor Devil: Adult animated series created by Spanish comedians Joaquin Reyes, Ernesto Sevilla and Miguel Esteban. The story focuses on Stan who is the Antichrist and has just turned 665 months old. With only one month left to reach the age of prophecy and plunge humanity into chaos and horror, Stan just wants to fulfill his dream of singing on Broadway.
-“The flight attendant: This year we will also get the second season of the series starring Kaley Cuoco. In the new season, Cassie will have to face a new adventure, of which for now very little is known, although some new additions have been revealed as Sharon Stone, who will play Cassie’s mother.
