Wouldn’t it be great? Yes, it sounds fantastic, that means unreal. But water can be the fuel of the future. One of the various proposed methods for generating clean energy is the production of hydrogen. Carbon-free hydrogen fuel could be produced.
It is a study published in National Academy of Sciences procedure. A group of researchers from Stanford University, California found a new way to separate hydrogen and oxygen from sea water. How? Through electricity. The current methods of water separation depend on purified water, a very expensive resource. Sea water is the most common source on Earth. The use for the production of chemical energy is presented as an alternative to fossil fuels.

The strength of hydrogen
The engines of hydrogen-powered cars are based on their combustion with oxygen as fuel. They produce electricity that is stored in batteries. These vehicles create a water vapor residue that does not cause pollution. So far, it has been very difficult to get these cars up and running on a certain global scale. The new finding could radically change this situation.
An explanation accompanies the study. Its authors, Hongjie Dai, J.G. Jackson, C. J. Wood and Michael Kenney sign. “To supply cities and cars with electricity, you need so much hydrogen that it is impossible to use purified water.” The prototype enables the economical production of hydrogen. It is possible to create scaled models and to produce this fuel globally.
Free from contamination
Hydrogen does not emit carbon dioxide and reduces its emissions when used worldwide. This would significantly mitigate the effects of climate change and global warming.

The method used is based on so-called electrolysis. It is a chemical reaction in which water breaks when two electrodes that were previously connected to an energy source are immersed in the water. This had not been achieved with the sea water because the salt corroded the electrode. The researchers found ways to prevent the adhesion of sodium chloride, sea salt. They use a coating that extends ten times the intensity of the electric current. It is critical to speed up hydrogen production and process efficiency.
Can water be the fuel of the future? This discovery will increase the availability of hydrogen generated by solar and wind energy. It lowers the previous production costs. It offers new solutions to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Here you can see the video of how the process works.
