Why you should update Google Chrome as soon as possible

Best Google Chrome extensions

Google Chrome users on Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems should install as soon as possible the latest update of this browser. The reason has to do with the detection of an important vulnerability that could be exploited by cyber attackers.

The vulnerability affects the Chrome browser in its versions for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems

As clarified from Google, an exploit identified as zero-day vulnerability CVE-2022-3075 which was detected by an anonymous user who reported the problem on August 30. Since then, Google has been working on its confirmation and identification, as well as on the development of a browser update to fix the vulnerability.

Google has not provided much more information regarding the nature of the flaw, although it would be related to a series of libraries used by Chromium, the code base on which the Google Chrome browser is developed. The reasons for not providing more information would be not to give more clues about this failure so that possible cyber attackers can not take advantage of it against computers where this browser has not yet been updated.

To update the version of the Chrome browser simply open the application and activate the update to version 105.0.5195.102 for Windows, Mac and Linux. The previous version was released on August 30 and already included up to 24 security patches that do not seem to have been sufficient.

The urgency in the update comes, in addition to the intrinsic reinforcement of security itself, by the number of users who have installed Google Chrome, which already almost a decade ago was present in 43% of computers but currently remains a more than advantaged leader in the market, with more than 67% user share. It is well ahead of Edge (10%), Safari (9%), Firefox (7%) and Opera (3%).
